In today’s blog article, we are going to talk about what is included in a whole-house repiping, and what is not included.
Generally a whole-house repiping job includes changing out all the water pipe in your house from where it enters the house, assuming that you are using city water. For practical puposes, this means locating, removing, and replace the pipe to your kitchen sink, dishwasher, potentially the refrigerator, and then all the bathrooms.
In a nutshell, the repiping professionals have to identify where the relevant pipes are, remove them, and replace them.
Sometimes valves need to be replaced at the time, but sometimes not. In order to access these pipes, your repiping crew will have to open walls and sometimes floors or ceilings to access the pipe. The job can take anywhere from a day or two to weeks, depending on your square footage and the layout of your house.
What Repiping Does Not Do
Let’s use the bathroom as an example. If your bathroom is being repiped, the repiping crew does not normally replace any fixtures, like taps or tubs or nozzles. If you want something extra replaced, then you can discuss that with them as an add-on.
After the repiping job is done, then your repiping professionals will go through your house and fix anything that they damaged during the process. They will patch and paint any walls that they had to breach to access pipe, and leave your house looking just like it did before they started.
